Jointed white pine panelling

All about jointed white pine

For interior panelling. It is the best option for panelling that needs to be stained opaquely since the knots have been removed. The boards result from a process of end-to-end jointing of small pieces, making them knot-free and therefore an economical solution.

The pine offered by SIDEX is primarily white pine sourced from Eastern Canada.

White pine, a native species in Quebec, is the tallest conifer in Eastern Canada and the least resinous of all pines. With rapid growth, the tree can reach up to 90 metres in height and 250 centimetres in diameter. Its uniform texture makes it a popular choice for mouldings, cabinetry, doors and windows, panelling, and DIY projects. The wood is soft, ranging in colour from creamy white to yellow. It is known for its fine grain, stability, and ease of machining and staining.

Grade:

Finger-jointed white pine is the ideal choice when an opaque painted finish is required. Because it is made from pine pieces with all knots removed, it eliminates the well-known issue of knots bleeding through paint over time, ensuring a smooth and lasting finish.

Usage:

Before priming, its surface displays small sections of wood in varying shades, making it unsuitable for semi-transparent stain finishes.

SIDEX’s jointed white pine stands out from commonly available products due to its barely visible joints. It undergoes a four-step finishing process: an initial sanding, followed by a first primer coat, then a second sanding, and finally, a top primer application.

This combination, stemming from our expertise in wood finishing, greatly enhances the performance of this product, primarily intended for interior walls and ceilings, and designed to be painted with the final colour of choice once installed on site.

It is important to note that these precautions represent the best measures known to date. However, since pine is a natural material valued for its variations and authentic character, it is impossible to guarantee 100% that there will be no stains, yellowing, or tannin exudation through the finish over time. These phenomena can occur due to factors beyond our control, such as the installation environment and the finishing products applied afterward.

This is one of the few products sold in fixed lengths, specifically 16'.

FAQ
We answer your questions

Like any other type of siding, an annual cleaning is recommended to remove any dirt that may have settled on it, and to inspect any repairs that may be necessary. The Maintenance Guide contains all the best practices in this respect.

Re-staining is also recommended at different intervals depending on the type of finish.

Although there are a number of technical aspects to consider, installation is relatively simple. Whether the siding is installed by a homeowner or an expert, it is essential that it be installed as described in our installation guide for warranties to apply.

In addition to having the color customized, SIDEX offers you the possibility of having a 100% customized product made to your specifications: type, dimensions, profile, length, we can make anything to order (minimum quantities may be required).
